Here is my Bachelor Project. 6 month of work all by myself.
There are two version of the film. One is my orignial where I used music form Nine Inch Nails. The other one was created later and uses music from Philipp Grünauer. Philipp is a fellow Student and he needed a project to finish all his courses at school. So he asked me if he can do an original score for my film.

Batman Arkham City Environments
I finaly had some time to play through Batman AC and make some screenshots. Those are the environments I worked on. All of this is team work and I can't take full credit. I think in the end almost everyone of the the great artists at Rocksteady worked on theses areas.

Mad Hatter
This was my favorite environment to work on. I had to do a all new set of assets and the huge pocketwatch was fun to make.

Dystopia Teaser Image

Just a teaser image for my Bachelor Degree Project. It is a 6 minute Sci-Fi shortfilm created with the UDK. The film is not done yet but most of the assets and animations are done so from now on it is mostly lighting and polish work. It has to be done on the 23rd of December but it won't be released befor the school presentation.

Close up with UDK
I got my robotic fly into UDK and I did some scale tests, checking on how close I can get to small objects without clipping problems. The length of the model is just 13 unreal units. I also did some testing with the DX11 tesselation feature. The lowpoly model is 20k triangles + tesselation.
Here is a quick screengrab out of the editor.

Working on my Bachelor Project
I recently finished 6th semester. That means the upcoming is my last semester... YEAH! I already started working on my bachelor project. The best is I can do it with UDK. Its gonna be a near future scifi environment. But I plan on doing a little more than just the environment. We will see how much I get done in time.
Here a rendering of a robotic fly.

Movie release
Yeah its done! After all the work we had to do in this semester there is at least this movie that I can show. I wish I had a little more time to fix some animations and some render errors but I am still happy with the result.

Movie almost finished
A lot of work went in to the movie project and its almost finished. Well it would be much cooler to have another month or two to just polish it but it has to be done by the end of June. But I would say for the given time of 2 and half month and having several other projects, it looks pretty cool.
Here is a render including the main character. I did the character in 3 days including the rig.
FullHd rendertime per frame is about 5-6 minutes using Mental Ray.

more movie project

I finaly found some time to work on the movie project again. I really like this project but sadly my school sucks and this is just a small side project. The big project for this semester is a FLASH game and sadly I am on of the better programmers in my group what means I am doing the Actionscript code. So I spend most time programming instead of doing cool visuals and working on the movie.
Here is a little update on the scene I already posted I think its coming along nicely but if someone reads this and has a good tip on how to make it more photoreal, let me know.
I also started on a another shot but this one needs much more work. Also this shot is not entirely done by myself. A few of the highrise buildings are done by Simon Spatzl

Back in School
As I spent the last 7 month in London working on BATMAN ARKHAM CITY, I am now back in Germany finishing my last year in school. And I finaly have something to post. We have to do a short movie again. This time we are going for a realistic look and below is a first WIP rendering of the set. So far the scene is all done by myself and about one week of work. Hopefully this movie doesn't turn out as horrible as our first try in making a short.

Bike and Girl
Not related to my project but I didn't post anything in a long time so here is some stuff I made while studying. In my 3D modeling course we had to pick a toy and model it. So I picked the toy from Kaneda's Bike known from the Akira comic/movie.
This is one of my tries to improve my painting skills and I like to believe I am getting better.
I used a Wacom tablet and Photoshop. I spend a lot of time on this one I think is was about 9 hours.

I final dared myself making a female chracter. I am quite happy on how it turned out.
Also worked on the way I present my renderings. Critics are always welcome.
Now I have to make the lowpoly and some hair.

Some Character Modeling
This is a character I worked on for the last days. The concept was done by my buddy
Walter Druck. You can find a link to his blog in the right panel.
The highpoly took me 5 days, the lowpoly + fur also took 5 days.
Here are some renders of the highpoly model without the fur.
This is the finished lowpoly model with Normalmap and AmbientOcclusion.
Screenshots where taken in the Unreal 3 Engine. The model has about 18000 polys
about 14000 for the entire body and about 4000 for the fur.
This is the Finished Model with textures and rigged into pose. Again screenshots are done
with the UE3. The Fur was the most difficult to do especialy during the skinning.
But I learned a lot on how to do the envelopes right.
This is the concept done Walter. He made a few of these with differnt armors. This is the one
that fitted most into the setting.
